This weekend's action inside the Premiership saw a premiere for Chelsea's midfielder, Michael Ballack. For the first time in his football career, the German received a red card. And it's not like he didn't deserve it, since his dreadful tackle on Liverpool's Sissoko was blasted by all English media on Monday.

Seeing it on TV, Ballack apologized for his foul and admitted that he deserved to leave the pitch for the first time in career
on red card: "I have seen it on TV, so I waited for him because I wanted to say sorry to him. It was the first straight red of my career, but I have seen it on TV and it does not look good".

"I have no problem with him. He could have been sent off in the first half with a second yellow. I told him to calm down and to be careful because anything can happen in football. But after seeing the challenge again I just wanted to say sorry to him", said Ballack, according to Daily Star.

Moreover, his coach also admitted the referee's decision was a good one. Despite Ballack's leaving his team in only 10 men, Mourinho avoided criticizing his player and looked for reasons to excuse him.

"I am not angry with him, but he deserved the red card. He arrived late and it was a stamp on Sissoko's leg. But he did not mean to hurt him, the ball was just gone. It is the first time he has ever received a straight red, which for a player who is experienced and nearly 30 shows what his character is like", stated the Portuguese.

The match between Chelsea and Liverpool ended 1-0 for the home side, thanks to a goal in the first half from Ivorian Didier Drogba. The blues were reduced to 10 men 5 minutes into the second half, but managed to maintain the result, despite Gerrard's and Crouch's great scoring chances in the end.
