One of the first African handset manufacturers, Mi-Fi has just launched five new budget Android smartphones, the Mi-A100, Mi-A150, Mi-A160, Mi-A350 and Mi-A300.

According to Mi-Fone, all devices will be available on the market starting with September at select retail stores in African countries, including Kenya, South Africa, Ghana, Rwanda, Nigeria and Tanzania.

Those who are not familiar with the Mi-Fone name should know that this is one of Africa’s fastest growing mobile device brands with more than 1 million handsets sold in three years.

The company focuses on low-end devices, which is a smart decision if we take into consideration its target audience and location.

In this regard, all five new Mi-Fone Android phones will be available for purchase from as little as $80 and lower.

Our new low cost range of Android phones will enable our African consumers to achieve higher levels of productivity simply by having a more efficient user experience in terms of Hardware technology coupled with the Android operating system,” said Alpesh Patel, CEO of Mi-Fone.

The Mi-Fone range of affordable Android phones offers both worlds in terms of touchscreen and QWERTY keyboard, and comes in various forms and specifications.

Aimed at budget customers, Mi-Fone range of Android smartphones includes EDGE and full 3G HSDPA support.

In addition, all five Mi-Fone Android handsets will come pre-loaded with Opera Mini browsers as well as the Mi-Apps portal, which allows users to download local and international apps and content.

Right now in Africa, Mi-Fone caters for the ultra low cost 2G feature phone market and with the Android Edge/3G additions we believe we add an extra dimension to ensuring we deliver the ultimate mass market user experience,” added Patel.

No additional details about the phone's hardware and software configuration have been disclosed yet, but Mi-Fone stated that there would be downloadable PDFs with each model's specs sheet, available on its website.
