Authorities in Mexico believe that eleven people have been kidnapped in a mass abduction ploy in the capital city.

The 11 victims disappeared from the Zona Rosa neighborhood, an administrative part of town also known for its entertainment and club life.

The incident follows the murder of Malcolm X's grandson in Mexico City. Malcolm Shabazz suffered fatal wounds as a result of a beating in a bar in downtown Mexico city.

The youngsters were last seen in a bar near the US Embassy in Mexico. Distraught relatives marched to the Bicentenario Restaurante-Bar, asking for CCTV evidence from the time of the kidnapping.

According to witness accounts, they were last seen between 10 a.m. and noon on Sunday, May 26.

They all lived in the dangerous Tepito neighborhood, and police believe that others could be missing, but their families refused to put in missing person reports.

The AP reports that the Bicentenario is located near the Angel of Independence monument, less than two blocks away from the U.S. Embassy building.

Relatives protested in front of the Interior Department building to the Zocalo on Thursday, May 30, asking for law enforcement forces to find their loved ones.

Six men, the majority of whom are in their 20s, a 16-year-old boy and four women of a young age, have vanished. The incident could be related to gang activity, a common occurrence in Tepito.

However, Josefina Garcia, mother of 19-year-old victim Said Sanchez Garcia, argues that her son was employed as a cosmetics seller in the local market, adding that he had no involvement in criminal activities.

Police have raided the location, bringing SWAT teams in, but they could not locate the employees that were present when the eleven people were taken.

Initial reports suggest that a group of armed men pulled up in an alley in white SUVs, while wearing masks and took the young people with them.
