MetroPCS Communications, Inc., the leading mobile phone carrier that offers unlimited, flat-rate, no signed contract wireless communications services, announced today that it now offers mobile phone users in the US unlimited calling to more than 100 countries all around the world, for only $5 per month. According to the operator, its customers will have the opportunity to make international calls to more than 1,000 destinations, without having to pay additional charges.

It's a common fact that MetroPCS offers a wide range of wireless service plans that allow its users to talk unlimitedly, while also providing leveraged service options to enhance their wireless experience. Those who choose to use MetroPCS will have top pay by month, not by minute, and there is no need to sign a contract with the company, nor a deposit or credit check.

The new $5 option allows customers that opted for a MetroPCS $40, $45 and $50 service plan to enjoy unlimited international calling. The carrier's family plans are also included in the offer, and they already benefit from unlimited long distance service, says the company. While there are no activation fees or hidden charges, the first month of service is offered for free with the purchase of a new device from the operator.

“Unlimited international calling at such an affordable rate can dramatically reduce monthly long distance costs and is yet another example of MetroPCS’ commitment to providing industry-leading value to consumers in today’s tough economic climate,” said Roger D. Linquist, president, chief executive officer and chairman of the board of MetroPCS. “MetroPCS is eliminating the worry of high international calling fees, counting minutes and dialing a connecting number, typical of traditional calling cards. With MetroPCS’ international calling, consumers are truly unlimited now more than ever.”

The company's service plans range from $30 to $50 per month and enable customers to talk as much as they want, at any given time. In addition, the carrier also offers unlimited family plans and MetroPCS Unlimited Nationwide, which enables its users to enjoy the service in more than 4,600 cities and towns across the continental United States and Puerto Rico. According to the company, the expanded network is included in the MetroPCS current $45 and $50 service plans and can be added to other service plans for $5 per month.

The $5 for unlimited would be useful for some, I suppose, but I am not even slightly tempted. I use a Tracfone that has international calls at the same price as local to over a hundred countries.
Other benefits include the fact that I do not pay roaming fees, their latest plan (Straight Talk) is the best priced prepaid available and the Tracfone coverage is probably the best.
