Metro Redux, the new collection of games from 4A Games and publisher Deep Silver, is taking over the United Kingdom video game chart number one position during its first week on sale, showing that remastered titles continue to have a solid audience on all platforms.

Gamers who pick up the release can enjoy both the original Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Light on the PC, the PlayStation 4 from Sony and the Xbox One from Microsoft.

The development team says that the core mechanics of the title have been improved and that the two games are looking better than they did when they were originally introduced.

At the same time, there are two new game modes which are designed to make Metro Redux a tougher experience for long-term fans or a simpler one for newcomers who want bigger firefights.

Diablo 3 – Reaper of Souls: Ultimate Evil Edition, the Blizzard title that took the number one last week, is at the moment in second, showing that the hack-and-slash title can get a solid audience on home consoles.

The game also received a new 2.1.0 patch which delivers new game features, including Seasons, Greater Rifts and tweaks for all core mechanics.

The last position on the podium is occupied by the Remastered version of The Last of Us for the PlayStation 4, which is offering fans of the Naughty Dog title an updated experience with improved graphics and some gameplay tweaks.

Plants versus Zombies: Garden Warfare, from Electronic Arts and PopCap Games, is in fourth position this week, down one place from the previous week, and according to UKIE, it is followed by Call of Duty: Ghosts, which remains in fifth place despite the impending launch of the new title in the series, Advanced Warfare.

Madden NFL 15, the American football simulation from EA Sports, is a huge phenomenon in the United States, but the game has not managed to become very important in the United Kingdom and has only managed to get to sixth place during its launch week.

Grand Theft Auto V, the open world game from Rockstar and Take Two, is in seventh place, mainly on the strength of its Online mode, which is getting constant updates from the development team.

Minecraft on the Xbox 360 has slid down from fourth place to eight and is followed by Watch Dogs, which has also dropped three positions.

The United Kingdom top ten is closed down by Titanfall, which has managed to gain one place during the week that ended on August 30.
