The game is delayed in order to ensure a proper marketing campaign

THQ has confirmed that its upcoming Metro: Last Light title is no longer scheduled to appear this summer, and will now be released in the beginning of 2013.

Metro: Last Light is the sequel to the impressive, albeit flawed, Metro 2033. It aims at improving the gritty, post-apocalyptic shooter experience delivered by its predecessor, while continuing the story set in the underground tunnels of Moscow.

THQ, its publisher, has now confirmed that the game, which was announced last year, is no longer set to appear in summer. Instead, the company has now confirmed that it will appear in 2013. This delay has been made to facilitate a strong marketing campaign and to avoid clashing with other big, triple-A titles.

This is part of THQ’s new strategy to focus on hardcore games, like Metro: Last Light, and support them with adequate marketing campaigns that make them stand out.

Expect some more details about the post-apocalyptic game, as well as some fresh videos or screenshots in the near future and, of course, a firm release date.
