Metro: Last Light, a superb FPS developed by 4A Games and published by Deep Silver, has been released on Steam for Linux.

While the game was under the patronage of the defunct publisher THQ, there had been no word of a Linux version, but Deep Silver had other ideas.

“It Is the Year 2034. Beneath the ruins of post-apocalyptic Moscow, in the tunnels of the Metro, the remnants of mankind are besieged by deadly threats from outside – and within. Mutants stalk the catacombs beneath the desolate surface, and hunt amidst the poisoned skies above.”

“But rather than stand united, the station-cities of the Metro are locked in a struggle for the ultimate power, a doomsday device from the military vaults of D6,” reads the announcement.

As it stands right now, Metro: Last Light is now the most advanced piece of gaming technology available for the Linux platform, not only on Steam.

For this reason alone, you will need a very powerful PC to run this game at its recommended settings, which means at least a Quad-Core or 3.0+ GHz Dual-Core CPU and an Nvidia 660 or above graphics card.
