The upcoming Metro: Last Light takes place in a near future setting where Earth has been devastated by a World War III of unknown proportions, but the development team at 4A Games will try to instill some positive elements into the story.

Huw Beynon, the global brand manager at Deep Silver working on Metro: Last Light, tells VG247 that, “It’s more about how people are eking out this dark and bleak existence, and somehow trying to – not just live – but thrive, survive and to find some kind of meaning in their life when everything’s been blown to shit.”

The first game in the series took place almost exclusively in the metro network under Moscow, but the sequel will also see protagonists explore the surface and confront the many dangers that it houses.

Metro: Last Light uses an internally developed engine and will expand on the mechanics of the first title.
