Metro Commander is one of the powerful file managers that can work in the Modern UI of Windows 8 and Windows RT and, thanks to its freeware license, it has quickly become one of the top apps in this particular software category.

A new version is now being delivered to users who have already installed it, but it’s not yet clear whether it brings any major feature upgrades or it’s only supposed to fix bugs and bring performance improvements.

The latest changelog published in the Windows Store is dated February 14 and points to improved support for archives that allows you to create, edit, and view files inside an archive. At the same time, it also adds Spanish language support and support for SRT subtitles.

“Metro Commander is an orthodox file manager which allows you to manage your files and folders from within the Modern Windows UI interface. Easily create, open, preview, rename, copy, move, delete, search and share files and folders,” the app description reads.

Of course, the application continues to be offered free of charge to all users running Microsoft’s modern platform, so you can download Metro Commander for Windows 8 right now to get all improvements on your device as well.
