News from the US says that, this past weekend, police officers in California had the surprise of a lifetime when they chanced to find a meth lab smack in the middle of a local retirement community.

More so given the fact that, according to evidence at hand, the methamphetamine laboratory was run by a 64-year-old man named Robert Short, ABC30 informs.

The officers who found the lab first figured out that something was wrong when they pulled Robert Short over for a routine check and found that the man was carrying methamphetamine in his car.

Having made this discovery, cops also paid Robert Short a home visit and found that the man's apartment accommodated for a fully functional meth lab, the same source details.

Apparently, the man was not only making methamphetamine but also selling it. Hence the fact that scales and baggies were also found scattered all around the place.

“Just shocking someone that age would do that, but actually a perfect place to do it, right? Retirement village, who would suspect it going on there?” Fresno police Lt. Joe Gomez commented on this discovery.

“It's shocking, I would never guess that anything like that would go on at a senior citizen village. I do know that he is a new tenant, maybe three or four months ago,” added neighbor Robin Schramek.

The 64-year-old California League-Fresno Village resident is in police custody, and chances are he will sooner or later end up behind bars.
