Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, the next iteration in the long-running series made by Kojima Productions and published by Konami, has just received an official launch date of September 1 for PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One, and a September 15 debut date for the PC platform. Details about a Day One and a Collector's Edition have also been shared.

Metal Gear Solid V is such a sprawling experience that mastermind Hideo Kojima decided to roll out Ground Zeroes, a special prologue, last year onto consoles and PC, in order to show what is possibly with the next Fox Engine and the mechanics that are set to appear in the full-fledged The Phantom Pain.

Since then, not much else has been known about the upcoming title, but this hasn't stopped rumors concerning its release to pop up.

The game launches on September 1 for consoles, 15 for PC

Now, after another leak yesterday, Konami confirms that Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain launches on PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One on September 1, worldwide. Unfortunately, PC users will have to wait two more weeks, until September 15, for the game to become available on the Steam service.

On its respective launch dates, the Metal Gear Online multiplayer component of the game is also going to be turned on, allowing fans to raid the Mother Bases of others for loot and other rewards.

Two editions are available for pre-purchase

The game is now available for pre-purchase in two versions – the Day One and Collector's Editions. The first, for physical copies, includes a real-life map, as well as some in-game DLC like the Adam-ska hangun, not to mention variations on things like the ballistic shield, cardboard box, or fatigues. This also includes a Metal Gear Online XP boost.

The Collector's Edition comes with a half-scale replica of Snake's bionic arm, a steelbook, a blu-ray disc with behind-the-scenes footage and trailers, a map, and exclusive packaging. Way more DLC items and customization elements are also included.
