Videogame creator Hideo Kojima and publisher Konami are announcing that they plan to launch both Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain and Ground Zeroes on the PC via the Steam digital distribution service from Steam, although the exact date is not known at the moment.

The information comes from an official page on the site of the publisher, which was prematurely revealed to the public, and the company has since confirmed the new games via the Gamescom 2014 stream.

Previously, fans of the series were getting ready to play The Phantom Pain on the PlayStation 4 from Sony, the Xbox One from Microsoft, and last-gen consoles.

The franchise was linked to home consoles before, and a simultaneous Steam release will be a big surprise for all fans.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain will be created using the new Fox Engine and is set to deliver a complex narrative and interesting gameplay, allowing players to explore an open world structure for the first time.

The game will be launched in the first quarter of next year, and Hideo Kojima has suggested that the title might be the last in the series to use the current cast of characters.
