One of the leading executive at GREE, a social game focused video game company, believes that in the coming years, the experiences that are now linked to the PC will move towards smartphones and other mobile devices.

Yoshikazu Tanaka, who is the chief executive officer at GREE, has stated during his speech at the Tokyo Games Show that, “The line between PC and mobile has blurred, and that’s a trend for this year. The traditional PC will disappear, and smartphone and PC will converge to become a new platform.”

At the moment, GREE is working on Metal Gear Solid: Social Ops, which is designed to show how the veteran franchise can work on mobile gaming devices.

Tanaka added, “In three years time local development of games will be bigger. That’s why we engage in worldwide development activities. Global participation will help us come up with new ideas.”

It’s not clear when Social Ops will be launched.
