Hideo Kojima, the main man behind the success of the Metal Gear Solid series, has told the Japanese press that the upcoming Snake Eater 3D title that will be launched on the Nintendo 3DS is much more than a simple graphics update paired with some 3D elements.

The developer says that the entire game has been remade from the ground up, making sure that all its elements use the three dimensional power of the 3DS and that every stage works better than it did in the original release.

It’s not clear whether Kojima has also tweaked any of the core gameplay mechanics but it seems that gamers will get an experience that justifies spending in order to get the game again on new hardware.

Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D is set to arrive in Japan on March 8 of 2012 and the launch date for Western markets is not yet clearly defined.
