Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops (commonly abbreviated to MPO) is a stealth game directed by Masahiro Yamamoto, with series creator Hideo Kojima acting as a producer. Portable Ops was developed by Kojima Productions and published by Konami in 2006 for the PlayStation Portable. It is the third Metal Gear title for the PlayStation Portable and the first one to retain the series' action-based gameplay. It is also the first canonical outing of the series for a portable platform, being a direct sequel to Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater.
On July 17th, Konami announced Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops Plus, an expansion of the original game focused on online play. Among its new features, the expansion includes new characters, missions, tutorials for beginners, as well as a new single-player mode called "Infinity Mission". In Japan, Portable Ops Plus was released on September 20 in two formats: the expansion on its own and as a deluxe package that includes the original game and the expansion. The North American version was released on November 13, 2007. The European release date has not been officially announced, however, Konami have said that it will be available in PAL territories in spring 2008.
Here's a useful list of passwords and unlockables in case you ever get good old Snake into trouble:
Passwords
Unlockable Character Passwords Enter the password in the "Recruit" "Password" section of the main
ingame menu.
YLFSSVBCDLGO - Dengeki Playstation Magazine Soldier
ZKUJZUYXJUH - Famitsu Magazine Soldier
TTOGZWSREYD - Unlock Arms Magazine Soldier
Unlockables
Unlock special characters. Beat the different modes on infinity mission to unlock different characters.
this is not the worst game ever made. Konami wanted to play around with some concepts for a new type of stealth mission, hence 'Infinity Mode' which you can play FOREVER on. If ur like my brother, you imagine ur own story to go with it, its completely open.
If you want a storyline, go with normal Portable Ops. Plus will only have Infinity Mode.

it sort of has a storyline, even at the beginning big boss says he needs to be fighting to truly live, and that he needs to pass on what he has learned, and so you are lead to believe that solid snake once worked with big boss in a mission like this, leading up to the events of metal gear 1.

MGSPO+ is the coolest psp game ive played! but i dont have many psp games. lol if you pay atention to the infinity mode then you could tell that the story line follows MGS 1. this game is fun any ways because who doesnt love the feeling of having a katana in your hands.

How do i get those passwords to work?! wtf! lol i go where it says to go, "recruit" then "password" i type the password in and it says password incorrect or whatever it says.
Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops Plus it doesn't flow to MGS1, Its set 3 years after MGS3 and now you got a new MGS coming on psp "Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker", mgs pw is the one that flows to mgs 1 then mgs 2 and mgs 4... Hoewer I would like to see Metal Gear Solid Rising on Xbox as well, I want to see what Konoma team have made and how much fun we can have by playing it...
Some of the passwords might not work for you because you got japanise or "US" version of the game... THE "EU" VERSION OF THE GAME DOES'T HAVE ANY PASSWORDS FOR THE CHARACTERS THERE IS NO POINT TO LOOK FOR THEM, IF YOU GOT EU YOU SHOULD FIND YOUR SOLDIERS ON INFINITE OR RC MODE THAT IS THE ONLY WAY EXEPT THE ONLINE TRADE...
HOPE I HELPED ^^

To hell with the people who don't like this game. I happen to love this game, it was the first MGS title I played and unlocking all the unique characters and reading their bios helped me to piece together the story.
It was a really interesting experiance, I re-bought the game and now I play it online and I still think it's fun. :D
