Sony Pictures is apparently inching closer to making the film adaptation of Metal Gear Solid a reality, as the company is reportedly in early talks with director Jordan Vogt-Roberts, intended to take the helm of the movie.

The Metal Gear Solid movie has been talked about since 2006 and has been in the works since 2012, when producer Avi Arad was revealed to be working with Konami and Hideo Kojima, the series' creator, in order to deliver a Hollywood adaptation of the popular stealth action video game, as Deadline reports.

Vogt-Roberts is most known for his directorial debut, "The Kings of Summer," which received numerous nominations and awards.

Although video game adaptations have never fared well, the latest superhero movies have shown clear signs of improvement, evolving from quick cash grabs that disrespect the franchise and its fans to decent action films.

Hopefully, the game creators and the studio will find some common ground on which to tread, and we'll get to see a solid adaptation of Solid Snake's manly exploits.

Avi Arad, the founder of Marvel Studios, was reported to also be looking into delivering movie adaptations of the Uncharted, InFamous and Mass Effect franchises to theaters all around the world.
