Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain might very well be the final title in the series for a while, and the fans who have played all previous installments are saying that the coming experience is too dark and gritty, based on the information that was shown during the E3 2015 trade show.

Video game developer Kojima Productions and publisher Konami have delivered both a cinematic trailer and about 40 minutes of gameplay from the coming experience, and the community believes that the tone the two companies have chosen is not suited to the franchise.

Hideo Kojima, the director of Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain, is saying on his official Twitter account that fans should not make snap judgments based on limited information.

The game creator admits that the story of the game is a dark one, but he also says that players will be able to make a lot of decisions that will impact the overall tone and will have a decisive influence on how the action progresses.

One of the main themes of the game is revenge and Snake will have to express his rage at certain moments during the narrative.

Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain is the first in the series to use an open world system and the developers want players to be able to interact with the world without any limitations, communicating with characters and factions in unique ways.

Hideo Kojima will no longer work on the franchise

Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain is the final title that the legendary creator will work on at Konami.

He has not explained what he wants to do once he breaks off relations with the publishers in charge of the Metal Gear Solid series.

Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain will have a wide range of improvements, including a new system for stealth and combat, smarter enemies, a full day-night cycle and weather that affects how each mission evolves.

The game will also feature a system of microtransactions linked to the development of the base the player can develop.

Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain will be out on the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One on September 1 and those who want to play on the PC will have to wait for another two weeks.
