Konami and Kojima Productions have unveiled the full 5-minute gameplay video for their upcoming Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain, showing off a bit of the story and quite a lot of the tense moments that will be presented in the stealth game.

Metal Gear Solid 5 is a massive undertaking for legendary games designer Hideo Kojima and he, together with his team at Kojima Productions and publisher Konami, decided to release a short prologue called Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes, which sets the stage for the full-fledged The Phantom Pain.

After the release of Ground Zeroes this spring, Konami and Kojima have stayed relatively silent, declining to say when the Phantom Pain might debut.

Now, the two companies have unveiled a pretty big, 5-minute long video from Metal Gear Solid 5, showing off a lot of cut scenes rendered by the game's impressive Fox Engine technology.

As you can see below in the actual video and in the screenshots, it seems that the new title will follow the origins of Naked Snake and how he became Big Boss, one of the main villains of the Metal Gear franchise.

Plenty of intense moments are shown and quite a few might certainly spoil the events of The Phantom Pain for those who want to go into the experience with a clean slate.

At the end, Kojima and Konami poke a bit of fun at fans and advertise a 1984 release for the game, without saying anything else about when the title might actually launch on PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, or Xbox One.
