Kojima thinks it's a good idea

Even if the Games Convention in Leipzig is officially over, there are still some things of interest that are coming from the event. For example, Metal Gear Solid creator and videogame icon Hideo Kojima has mentioned that Metal Gear Acid games, which are currently available on the PlayStation Portable handheld from Sony, might find their way to the PlayStation Network at some point in the future.

Metal Gear Acid is part of the Metal Gear franchise, while not part of the continuity of the series. The game is based around turn based action and around card playing, with Acid being mentioned as standing for "Active Command Intelligence Duel". The cards, which are all acquired in one single purchase, represent anything in the universe, from characters moves to weapons and weapon mods, and players use them to go through the game. The concept of the game was successful and Konami launched both a sequel and a mobile version.

Kojima told Eurogamer that "I'm just saying yes because it's possible, I think it is possible. Sorry to say we don't have specific plans at the moment, but it is possible, yes". With Metal Gear Solid 4, the last part of the Solid Snake saga, Konami must be looking for possibilities to re-imagine other games that are set in the same universe. Metal Gear Acid would be an interesting choice for a remake because the gameplay is pretty interesting and because of the fact that the game does not impact directly on the continuity of the series.

Sony is also interested in getting more good games on the PlayStation Network mainly due to the need to compete with the Xbox Live service from Microsoft. So, even if no Acid game is currently under development, don't be surprised if an announcement to bring the series to the PSN is made soon.
