Well, it looks like 2008 has one hell (sorry) of a start, at least as far as rock and metal musicians and players are concerned. Sabian is a name that needs little introduction: one of the leading, legendary names in the music industry and one of the best and biggest cymbals manufacturer; from blues to death metal, the most renowned drummers in the world have put their complete trust in these Canadian guys and the results of their strides to offer some of the best cymbals on the face of the Earth.

It's now time to introduce the newest series of cymbals from Sabian, the APX. These have been designed especially to cut through the heaviest of guitar works and make themselves heard throughout the noisiest environments traditionally associated with rock and metal.

The APX sport a High-Decibel engineering and design which allows them to output a significantly higher level while retaining the awesome character of all Sabian products. The acoustic response of the new Sabian APX has an intensely-focused dynamics, with bright and loud sound, destined to make the difference between your drum section sounding right and your drumming sounding awesome.

In order to achieve all these high performance specs, Sabian have introduced a new technology for manufacturing these cymbals and this is why their look is somehow different from the other series; in other words, the APXs are made for you to hear and see the difference. Among the drummers already using APX gear, the noticeable names of John Kelly (Type-O Negative), George Lokkias (Nile), Ray Luzier (Korn) or Rich Beddoe (Finger Eleven) should be mentioned.

The new Sabian APX cymbals will be available in sets and individually and they come in two variations: the "Solid" version, for a dramatic and explosive sound and "Sonically Matched" sets for a perfect sonic coherence. While these standard cymbals will come as 14" hats,16" crash, 20" ride or 14" hats, 18" crash, 22" ride sets, an Effects Pack will also be available, containing a 10" splash and an 18" Chinese.
