There are definitely many mobile computers roaming today's IT market, but it looks like ASUS figured it wouldn't hurt to release a new one, even deciding on a shell not normally considered all that opportune for the warm season.

All the new processors and platforms for laptops may have come out some time ago, but PC makers are always building something new.

As such, one should not be surprised if a company or another decided to just come out and release a new desktop or laptop.

Verily, such things happen monthly, if not weekly, like how HP released three new Pavilion desktops.

Other times, products get previewed ahead of launch, something that seems to happen quite a lot in fact, more so that official releases themselves.

A situation of this latter sort has arisen involving a new mobile personal computer that ASUS should get around to formally launching soon.

As reported, it goes by the name of U46 and is powered by a second generation Sandy Bridge Intel processor, which is either a Core i3, Core i5 or even Core i7.

The exact memory and storage capacities aren't mentioned, but one can assume they won't be too modest, what with the performance standard that the chips alone can reach.

What the report does point out is that the laptop features an USB 3.0 connector and a webcam, plus an optical disk drive unit.

All the hardware is packed inside a metal frame with a screen diagonal of 14 inches and a thickness of just 27 mm.

Finally, the hardware is kept running by a battery which can last for up to 10 hour on a single charge, meaning that the ASUS U46 can be a very enduring travel partner.

As one would expect (or not), since this is a pre-release leak, there was no sort of data on pricing and availability.
