Legendary actress Meryl Streep is currently working on the biopic “The Iron Lady,” dwelling on the life and career of the first female British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. The first promo shot for the film is out.

The film will be out in the UK sometime this year and, for anyone still doubting that Streep could bring Thatcher to life on the big screen, the photo that also comes attached to this article should put everybody at ease.

Ever since the pic hit the net, movie critics and celebrity bloggers have been talking non-stop about how Streep is definitely going to get an Oscar for this film, since the resemblance is uncanny at best.

And it’s not just the physical resemblance that will probably get her the much-coveted statuette either, as Meryl herself said in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.

“The prospect of exploring the swathe cut through history by this remarkable woman is a daunting and exciting challenge,” the actress says.

“I am trying to approach the role with as much zeal, fervor and attention to detail as the real Lady Thatcher possesses – I can only hope my stamina will begin to approach her own,” she adds.

Judging on this sole picture alone, Streep is already half way there: Entertainment Weekly, for one, believes the actress has truly managed to capture the very essence of “the Iron Lady.”

“Pearl necklaces and button earrings will make anyone look like a politician – see: every impression of Hillary Clinton, ever – but it takes a special kind of talent to hold one’s face in a stress position for an entire movie. Meryl Streep! She can do everything,” EW writes.

Directed by Phyllida Lloyd on a script by Abi Morgan, “The Iron Lady” also stars Jim Broadbent and Anthony Head and, as also noted above, will be coming out in the UK sometime later this year.
