In 2010, during a raid in Detroit that would have led cops to the presumed killer of a 17-year-old boy, Aiyana Jones was shot in the head and killed. She was just 7 years old, and the cop who shot her is now facing involuntary manslaughter charges.

Aiyana’s grandmother, Mertilla Jones, took to the stand hours ago, recalling the night the police came bursting in her home – and killed her grandchild, who had just fallen asleep on the couch.

A video report from Click on Detroit is embedded below.

A clearly emotional Mrs. Jones told the court that officer Joseph Weekley barged inside the house and stopped with his submachine inches from the girl’s head. And then he just shot her.

“He pulled the trigger and I seen the light leave out of her eyes and the blood started gushing out her mouth and she was dead,” she says.

Weekley’s defense attorney claims that Jones actually hit him or tried to take the gun from him, which then discharged.
