A new Android-based tablet PC is now available for purchase in India, featuring one of the most affordable price tags any similar device sports, namely INR 9,499.

The new tablet PC arrives on shelves with pretty impressive specs and capabilities, such as its 7-inch WVGA TFT LCD touchscreen display, or the triple-core application processor packed inside it.

The price tag seems highly appealing for a device that packs such an application processor, especially since all of its cores were clocked in at 1.2GHz.

However, there are even more features and capabilities that will make users rejoice, including video calling functionality and multimedia features.

The tablet PC can deliver a great experience when it comes to playing games or watching videos, listening to music, or browsing the Internet.

“At Mercury, we always strive to make technology affordable to users,” Sushmita Das, country manager – India, Kobian stated.

“We are not in the league to announce the cheapest tablet in the country, we believe in providing a strong quality product backed with features and applications that are required by today’s user.

“We promise an experience for all with a high performance display, ease of internet surfing, playing a huge range of games and it’s not heavy on your pocket.”

The new Mercury mTab tablet PC runs under Google's Android 2.3 Gingerbread and can deliver support for services like Search, Calendar, GMail, YouTube, and more.

The device comes with 512MB of RAM and with 4GB of internal memory, as well as with a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 32GB of additional storage space.

The specs list of the new device also includes a 1.3MP camera on the front, Wi-Fi (IEEE 802.11b/g) connectivity, G sensor, and more. The new tablet PC measures 19.3cm x 11.7cm x 1.4cm.

The device is already available for purchase, featuring a warranty of one year and the said price tag of Rs. 9, 499. (via)
