Mercenaries 2: World in Flames has had a long development cycle, which usually means that the game would be less  than successful on launch. But Electronic Arts has pushed the game out accompanied by a serious advertising campaign which managed to lead to good sales and now Pandemic, the developer, is aiming to attract even more players with the promise of DLC for the game.

On October 13, on the Xbox Live service from Microsoft and a week later on the PlayStation Network service offered by Sony, those who have Mercenaries 2: World in Flames will be able to get their hands on the first piece of downloadable content for the game. It's called the Total Payback update and it will include a cheat code which allows gamers to get all the weapons, vehicles and airstrike options featured in the release. You can also activate an infinite ammo and infinite health cheat offered by the same free update. Basically, the update will turn the game into an open playground on which you can exercise your appetite for destruction and mayhem.

Pandemic is also preparing a more hefty package which will arrive much later. The company says that this package will include new playable characters, like Blanco, Fiona, Ewan, and Eva, and support for co-op multiplayer play which goes across game regions. More details are set to be offered by Pandemic as the November tentative release date draws near.

Mercenaries 2 is currently available for the Xbox 360, the PlayStation 3, the PlayStation 2 and the PC. The PS2 version is particularly bad, with graphics that look like they were created for the original PlayStation. Even if reviewers didn't love the game, you can still have fun with the other three versions.
