Officials from Auto Build announced that the company is preparing another surprise: the E-Class Superlight. The name is not in vain, since the new outstanding smart car will weigh just 2,860 pounds, 770 pounds less than the last E Coupe, and its manufacturing process will rely on “super lightweight carbon fiber.”
This new strategy comes as a response to BMW and Audi projects to develop light-weight alternatives. Officials behind the project are keen on keeping most of the information secret, but rumors created around this project point at 2015 as a launching date.
Even thought it is called “Superlight” for good reasons, the low-weight material is actually harder than steel.
