Back in June, it was revealed that Apple and Mercedes apparently partnered up and the latter was expected to introduce the new “iOS for Car” software and services sometime in 2014.

The time has now come for the concept to be shown in reality, so Mercedes-Benz is showing its C-Class sedan equipped with an iPad-like display running a touchpad technology pioneered by the iPhone, reports PatentlyApple.

This is the model’s first overhaul in seven years, so naturally all eyes are on Mercedes. The display mounted within the car will aptly stream speed and navigation instructions to the windscreen, as to avoid distracting the driver.

The touchpad also enables users to go through functions, zoom in and out of maps and related images on the central display. The dashboard-incorporated tablet allows drivers to input letters or numbers and will vibrate in order to signal it has received certain commands.

Mercedes isn’t the only car company porting tablets to cars these days. At CES 2014, Audi also introduced its 10.2-inch Mobile Audi Smart Display companion tablet for cars, which can be used as a control deck for everything that happens in the vehicle.
