Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. It helps people stay fit and alert during the day and according to new evidence, it also lowers coronary heart disease risk.

The American Heart Association explains that, after spending 16 years looking into the health records of 26,902 men between the ages of 45 and 82, scientists have reached the conclusion that those who did not eat breakfast were more likely to die of a heart attack or a coronary heart disease.

More precisely, their chances of being killed by said conditions were 27% higher than those recorded in the case of men who did not skip breakfast.

Specialists say that, as far as they can tell, not eating breakfast on a regular basis affects an individual's metabolism.

This translates into several health complications that can lead to potentially fatal heart conditions.

“Don’t skip breakfast. Eating breakfast is associated with a decreased risk of heart attacks.”

“Incorporating many types of healthy foods into your breakfast is an easy way to ensure your meal provides adequate energy and a healthy balance of nutrients, such as protein, carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals,” researcher Leah E. Cahill said in a statement.
