Most recent episode of family reality show solves the mystery

The Kardashian Christmas card 2013 was unveiled yesterday and, besides keeping many thoroughly entertained with its ridiculousness, it also got some wondering why it didn’t include the men in the family, with the exception of Bruce and Mason, Kourtney’s son.

Attached to this article is a photo of the card, which features a post-apocalyptic casino venue, with the most famous members of reality TV’s biggest family striking their most glam poses. Famed fashion photographer David LaChapelle was in charge of the shoot and, as fans of the Kardashians’ reality show saw on the latest episode, he was to blame for the exclusion.

The Daily Mail reports that it was Kim’s idea to have LaChapelle handle the shoot for the annual card, a tradition that they have been keeping for a very long time and that was never discontinued, not even for a year.

He kept the set a secret from them and even refused to tell them what they would be wearing. The plan was, initially, to have just the women in the family take part in it but he didn’t get his way because Bruce opposed it.

Even though he and Kris Jenner, mother and manager to all the girls, were no longer on excellent terms, he pointed out that he’s never missed a single shoot for the Christmas card and he certainly had no plans of making 2013 the exception.

At the same time, Kourtney objected to LaChapelle’s proposition to exclude the children, Mason and Penelope, her two offspring with longtime partner Scott Disick. So she ended up bringing them on set right as they were getting ready to wrap it up.

Meanwhile, Scott and Rob Kardashian were ok with the suggestion to not be part of the family card. Kanye West, Kim Kardashian’s fiancé, was on tour so he couldn’t have made it either way, while Lamar Odom, Khloe’s husband, has been AWOL for some time now, with most saying that their marriage is over.

So, conspiracy theorists trying to cling at straws at some of the notable absences from the card photoshoot, you’ve just been had by the Kardashians, who were one step ahead of the game and explained it all even before the pic was out.

LaChapelle’s idea was to make the card a commentary on pop culture and, implicitly, on the Kardashians as well. Whether they were ever in on the joke is yet to be determined.
