Though today’s society encourages openness on topics ranging from health to personal problems, countless women continue to keep their partner in the dark as regards the exact amount of time they spend doing their regular beauty routines, which is completely understandable if one thinks about it. Still, even with those who don’t make of this a secret considered, in general, men remain oblivious of just how much time and effort goes into making ladies pretty, a new poll cited by the Daily Mail reveals.

It’s no longer a secret that, when a woman says “I’ll be ready in 5 minutes” and then heads into the bathroom, chances of her actually being ready in 5 are slim to none and few men would bet money on them. Also not a secret is that no one is glamorous and fresh as a daisy in the morning, be they men or women, so claiming otherwise is ridiculous. With all that, men still believe when women tell them they did almost nothing to look as stunning as they are – for the simple reason that they have no idea what it takes to make them so beautiful.

“Two thirds of men are completely oblivious to the extensive beauty routine their other half goes through on a daily basis, a study has found. Among the pampering habits which escape men on a daily basis are eyebrow plucking, fake-tanning and leg waxing. The study also found 28 per cent of men are unaware their partners regularly pluck hairs from their chin, paint their toe-nails or file their nails. It also emerged one in 20 females reckon their men have never seen them looking ‘au naturelle,’ according to the poll of 3,000 women by Jolen Creme Bleaching,” the Mail says of the findings.

According to a spokesperson for Jolen Waxing Kits, it’s only logical for women to want to keep their men in the dark as to the pains and lengths they go to to look good on dates and even when they’re at home, doing regular chores. Some things, like waxing or bleaching, are not meant to be shared with a male partner because they are both ungracious and un-glamorous. If a woman wants to talk about that, she has her girlfriends to do so and will rarely – if ever – turn to her boyfriend, fiancé or husband.

“Most women have a regimented beauty regime which they will have stuck to for years and men don’t seem to realize the effort women put in on a daily basis. The process in which women go through to look good is sometimes not at all glamorous or ladylike. Waxing, plucking and bleaching facial hair is just one aspect of a beauty regime that is not alluring but it’s what most girls go through to look as good as possible. Nobody wants to admit how much effort they go to to look good, so it’s obvious we don’t divulge our beauty tricks – especially to our other half,” the spokesperson for the company says upon making the results of the poll public.
