See? Strawberry and banana flavored or spiky condoms are kids' stuff. A new condom goes to the point: not even longer, but larger erections, too!

CSD500, the Condom Safety Device, will have an erectogenic chemical to help men keep a full erection during intercourse. The gel, to be licensed under the trademark name of Zanifil, will dilate the arteries, increasing blood flow to the penis, offering the wearer an improved stiffness, tumescence and longer erection. The condom incorporates a pharmacological dose within the teat, that will reach the penis.

After discussions with EU regulatory authorities, the product was classified within the EU as a Class III medical device incorporating an ancillary medicinal chemical, which means you could buy it throughout Europe just like a conventional condom.

The British firm Futura Medical, that has designed the new condom, signed a global distribution agreement with the world's largest condom manufacturer and distributor, SSL International (producer of the well known Durex) for the lifetime of the patents.

A recent trial made of CSD500, equally sustained by Futura and SSL International has come with positive results, showing a significantly firmer and longer-lasting erections, and increased penis size, through the employment of the CSD500 condom compared with a standard model. The results have come from a double-blind, randomized, cross-over study.

The research pool was made of 108 healthy couples, in which the men had at a cetain moment experienced a partial or complete loss of erection whilst employing standard condoms. CSD500 was also found to have a high degree of safety and tolerability.

CSD500 could be approved later in 2007, and will be launched by SSL as a Durex-branded product (we can't wait to see the name!...). Futura has a patent protection on 30 markets, including the main European countries as well as the US and Canada, and patent applications are on-going in 8 other countries.
