Amy Locane-Bovenizer, who starred in the hit television series “Melrose Place,” has been found guilty of vehicular homicide and sentenced to just 3 years in prison, down from the minimum 10 the charge entails.

The victim’s family was outraged when they heard the sentence, as the video below will confirm.

In 2010, the actress hit and killed a 60-year-old woman on her way home. Investigators later determined she had three times the legal amount of blood alcohol.

“The ‘Melrose Place’ star plowed her SUV into another car, killing 60-year-old Helene Seeman. The actress' blood-alcohol level was nearly three times the legal limit when the crash occurred in Montgomery Township, New Jersey, according to evidence presented during trial,” TooFab reports.

Even though she was facing 10 years in jail, she got off with just a 3-year sentence because the judge considered what effects this kind of long-term imprisonment would have on her 2 children, one of whom has special needs.

“The defense did not dispute she was drunk, arguing only that she should not be held criminally responsible,” notes the same media outlet.

However, the problems her children have at home should not have influenced the ruling, the victim’s husband and son tried to tell the judge.

After 3 years, if not even less, the actress will get to go home to her kids, whereas Helene will never be with her family again.

“What a travesty,” Mr. Seeman told the judge.

Even so, the judge held his ground and said that the ruling had already been made – and nothing he or his son had to say could change it.

They aren’t the only ones to cry foul play either: the moment word of the sentencing got out, celebrity bloggers and commenters rushed to say that Locane-Bovenizer got special treatment for being a celebrity.
