iTunes at a much lower price

Melodeo will start providing songs from iTunes on mobile phones too. This service will soon become available for a wider range of consumers, not only for those that own an iPod or who use their computers for listening to music.

Melodeo currently provides audio clips through online download. From now on, they will be using lists of songs that are stored in personal libraries which use iTunes. The fact that this service will be available on mobile phones too also means that the users will be able to listen to his songs on more than one computer.

This solution provides fast access to a large list of melodies without requiring an MP3 player. It is only natural to see this happening, as the tendency for compacting music and telecommunication devices into a single one has been easy to observe in the latest such products.

The service will come for a low cost. Apple's iTunes users currently pay almost USD1 per song. Melodeo, on the other hand, does not actually sell the songs to mobile phone users, as they are not transferred to their devices. But it offers the possibility of choosing certain songs to listen to from the iTunes list. As a result of this, the service costs the same as regular Web-based radio services. This could mean that users may have to pay even a tenth of a cent per song play. That is considerably profitable, when considering the fact that Molodeo provides services of similar quality to those by regular iTunes programs.

"We're doing everything we can to follow the current legal guidelines and standard industry practices where the legal guidelines are not crystal clear", said David Dederer, Melodeo's vice president for music services.

Moledo will deliver songs for customers of AT&T and Alltel sometime in six to twelve weeks.
