Melissa McCarthy and Rebel Wilson have more than just several box office hits in common: they’re both overweight actresses who have managed to succeed in Hollywood even though it normally favors stick-thin female thespians. This is why they have signed a pact promising never to lose weight.

Sources close to the two stars, who are actually friends in real life, tell Radar Online that they’ve decided never to lose weight because of pressure from industry people. When and if they decide to shed the extra pounds, it will be because they wanted it and not because someone told them they should.

By maintaining their current weight, Melissa and Rebel hope to become role models for other curvy / overweight women out there, who feel depressed every time they go to the movies and they only see stick-thin women on the big screen.

“Rebel and Melissa have known each other for five years and there’s a lot of love there. Neither one of them is trying to lose weight and they’ve formed this little support group to keep each other from falling into the skinny Hollywood trap,” says a spy.

“Obviously, they could both snap their fingers and lose the weight because of the resources they have available to them — which could include everything from personal trainers to Lap Band surgery — but right now they’re agreeing with each other that they have to hold the line and provide a positive image for overweight girls everywhere,” the insider adds.

“There will be plenty of time for dieting years from now, but Rebel and Melissa are determined to stay at their current sizes for now,” dishes the source.

Earlier this year, Melissa’s weight was brought into question in a review of her movie “Identity Thief,” with one critic arguing that she used it for comic relief and stressing that there was absolutely nothing funny about being obese.

He even called her a “female hippo” who would probably not be deemed funny at all if she lost weight, which sparked a frenzy of comments online. Voices called for him to apologize, but he said he never would.
