14 DAY TRIAL // Melanie Griffith has been in the spotlight for many a year but that doesn’t mean she’s not hurt by negative comments, especially when they have nothing to do with her career – and everything to do with her looks.
Melanie and her husband Antonio Banderas recently attended a benefit gala for the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles, which is also when she revealed the kind of bullying she’d been subjected to on Twitter.
She gets the bulk of negative comments on account of her looks, the actress said in a brief interview with Us Weekly.
“Most people are telling me I look horrible. The tweets I get are really nasty,” the 55-year-old star revealed.
She didn’t go into details, but one can only imagine the things that were said / written about her.
Half an hour on Twitter can show anyone interested the kind of bile people spew there when they’re in the mood (which, of course, isn’t to say it doesn’t have its advantages as well).
On the same occasion, the actress shared her tips for her amazing figure at 55: getting plenty of exercise.
“I don’t know if I look that great,” she said with modesty, before adding, “[but] I work out a lot. I have a trainer that I [work with] four times a week, and I do hot yoga.”
This is one of those rare occasions Melanie and Antonio step out together as a couple because, most of the time, they simply opt to ignore the rumors still making the rounds about the so-called deplorable state of their marriage.
Back in July this year, for instance, there were several reports saying the two were over, with Melanie sinking back into alcohol abuse and Antonio seeking solace in the arms of other women.
In fact, it was his connections to other women that precipitated marital problems, with Melanie deciding it was finally time she stood up against him cheating on her again.
Clearly, those were just unfounded rumors.
