The bad thing about getting a tattoo with your loved one’s name is that, when (if) things go bad between you two, you’re left with a painful reminder of it, not to mention with the name of a person you want nothing more to do with on your body.

Case in point: actress Melanie Griffith who, for years, has been proudly showing off her arm tattoo on the red carpet. The ink is of a heart with the name “Antonio” inside, Antonio being here Antonio Banderas, her husband of nearly 18 years.

That would be the same husband that Melanie is now getting divorced from, so you can see her predicament: she’s stuck with his name on a very visible part of her body.

Of course, wearing long sleeves would be an option but, in recent weeks, Melanie has opted for having it covered with foundation for her red carpet appearances. A new report in TMZ says that, until she’s getting it lasered off, she’s putting pressure on photographers to Photoshop it out of their pictures.

“Antonio Banderas' soon-to-be ex-wife is sitting for photos right now in NYC. She's doing a magazine spread showcasing her newly decorated Central Park West apartment,” the report says.

“Sources connected with the shoot tell TMZ, Melanie has laid down the law – Antonio MUST be Photoshopped out,” adds the same media outlet.

This is just a “shortcut” to the real solution for the problem, though: the actress is determined to have the ink lasered off but has simply not had the time until now. Plus, as easy as it might seem to get a tattoo, having it removed involves twice the pain, twice (if not actually more) the time, and twice the expense. In this case, money is not the issue.

Speaking of money, word online has it that Antonio and Melanie might not have signed a prenup before getting married, which could mean the proceedings will last a very long time. They also have a lot of their joint estate tied up in real estate all over the world, so that too might further complicate things.

All things considered, Melanie will still have to wait before moving on from the failed marriage. Reports over the weekend indicated that she might be in a rush to do so, as the rumor mill was set in motion after she was spotted out for dinner in Rome, Italy, with actor Matt Dillon, the Don Juan of Hollywood back in the ‘90s.
