14 DAY TRIAL // An old saying has it that “you made your bed and now you have to sleep in it.” It’s precisely the metaphorical sleeping part that bothers director and actor Mel Gibson the most, since he simply can’t stand having his fellow parishioners judging him for his affair and the yet unborn child it led to. Over the weekend, he even let them know just how upset he was about the gossip, threatening to shut down the church, as Radar Online informs.
Mel was at the Holy Family Chapel in Agoura Hills, California on Sunday when he broke down because of the whispering and double-entendre looks his fellow churchgoers were casting in his direction. Already known for his highly flammable temper, the actor reportedly lost it completely, walked to the altar and started preaching to everybody present about how wrong it was to judge him. Should they not stop doing so, Mel also said, he would even take the necessary steps to have the church shut down.
“Mel’s completely lost it. His holier than thou world is falling apart around him – all these years he’s been preaching the good holy word, and now that the wizard’s curtain has been pulled back, we find that Mel hasn’t been practicing what he preaches. Mel got up on his stage – the altar – and went off. He tried to intimidate the parishioners by staring at everyone with his angry eyes.” an eyewitness tells Radar.
Giving the people inside the church the “angry eyes” look was not all that the actor did to intimidate them into leaving him alone, the same source reveals. According to Radar and the spy, Mel Gibson even moved on to direct threats, saying he virtually had the power to close the church – and would do so at the tiniest provocation. What’s more, the entire rant was prompted by his feeling of guilt at posing to be better than he actually was, the eyewitness believes.
“Mel even threatened to shut down the church if people kept gossiping about him. The bottom line is that if Mel hadn’t cheated on his wife and gotten his Russian girlfriend pregnant, there wouldn’t be much to gossip about – he created this mess, and now he’s trying to control it. He’s definitely feeling the heat for it.” the same source explains for Radar Online.
