Mel Gibson was supposed to do a cameo for the upcoming “The Hangover 2” but it was axed amidst reports the cast weren’t happy about it. Liam Neeson has been brought in as a replacement – but Mel is none too happy about it.

According to the New York Post, the actor is fuming that he’s been replaced in the film because he really believed the cameo would save his career.

Plus, Gibson is convinced the producers did not even give him a proper chance by axing his role when they clearly had no problem allowing Mike Tyson on board the first film.

“Gibson’s minor role as a Bangkok tattoo artist was seen as a comeback for his tattered career, but producers were quick to cut him loose when cast members objected to working with him,” the Post writes.

As a source puts it for the aforementioned e-zine, Gibson believes he wasn’t treated fairly when his cameo was axed and he was so unceremoniously replaced.

“He doesn’t understand why Mike Tyson, a drug user who turned his life around, was given a chance while Mel was kicked to the curb. Everybody deserves a second chance,” says the spy for the Post.

“Alan Nierob, who represents Gibson and Liam Neeson, issued a statement hinting at resentment over the firing. Nierob said Neeson will replace Gibson in the part, ‘pending clearance of cast and crew background check,’ he quipped,” the Post reports.

As we were also telling you at the time the announcement was made, Neeson was brought in after Zach Galifianakis went on record in a recent interview saying he was against certain casting choices made.

However, he as a mere actor had no other choice but to come on set and “vomit” his lines, he said, underlining he was determined to do something to make his voice heard.

It would seem he finally managed to do just that, as the movie studio announced shortly afterwards that Gibson was out of the picture – with Liam being brought in reportedly for the same part.

As fans must know, Gibson’s downfall and subsequent need for a comeback vehicle is due to the claims made by his ex, Russian singer Oksana Grigorieva, who has filed domestic abuse charges against him.
