14 DAY TRIAL // Actor and director Mel Gibson may be in serious trouble following allegations made by his former girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva that he’d been physically aggressive to her on at least a couple of occasions. Furthermore, after claims have been made that Grigorieva even has photographic evidence of the assault, authorities have decided to investigate Gibson for spousal abuse, TMZ has learned.
That is not to say that Oksana is in the clear, though, since police also believe that she may be doing all this to get money out of her ex, the same media outlet reports. However, should this turn out not to be the case, then Mel could be in serious trouble for the allegations formulated against him. Right at this moment, authorities are questioning all involved parties to determine whether any of the claims made in recent weeks hold water.
“Sources tell TMZ the alleged incidents occurred in Malibu in both January and February of this year. We’re told it’s a ‘spousal abuse’ investigation and the alleged victim is Oksana. Sources tell TMZ Sheriff’s deputies interviewed Oksana on Monday. The Sheriff’s Dept. has released a statement claiming investigators are ‘currently gathering information regarding the allegations.’ Sources also tell TMZ Oksana told deputies Gibson was violent toward her several times, the worst of which she claims occurred in January and February. She also told deputies she secretly tape recorded Gibson after the two worst violent episodes, because she feared for her safety,” TMZ reports.
At the same time, Oksana’s motives are also being questioned, the paparazzi agency and celebrity gossip website reveals. Apparently, there is concrete proof that the Russian singer did not record Mel’s outbursts because she feared for her life but because she saw in this a chance to get money out of him in the eventuality of a breakup. In other words, Oksana was gathering documentation that she could use to blackmail the actor, which is precisely what she did when he threatened to stop paying her expenses, as agreed under a private understanding between the two.
“Law enforcement sources tell TMZ... they have ‘serious concerns’ over Oksana Grigorieva’s credibility in connection with her domestic violence claim against Mel Gibson... because, we’re told, she had money on the brain before making her claim. Our sources say Gibson has emails and other evidence Oksana ‘tried to extract money from Mel in return for the [explosive] tapes.’ As TMZ has already reported, Oksana secretly recorded Gibson during several heated arguments back in February. We’re told Sheriff’s investigators are concerned that Oksana had contact with civil lawyers and judges while she negotiated a visitation agreement with Mel over a 6-month period but never once contacted police,” TMZ says.
