Most of you are probably familiar with the name Meizu, due to the company’s smartphones. Currently, the OEM is expected to reveal its next flagship handset in the near future – on September 2 if the rumor mill is to be given any credit.

Well, now sources familiar with the matter reported by GizChina bring us word that Meizu might be looking to surprise us with a tablet announcement.

Next week, the Chinese OEM should unleash the MX4, coming in three versions – a Pro One, Standard One and Mini One. There has been some talk about a fourth mystery device and now I have reason to believe this is a tablet.

The first images have been posted on the Chinese social media site Weibo and depict a 7.9-inch slate, which is apparently dubbed the Meizu Max.

According to what’s being thrown around, the tablet should be quite sleek, boasting a thickness of 3mm / 0.11 inches. It will also offer a pretty advanced 2560 x 1600 pixel resolution.

The biggest mystery is what kind of chip Meizu will use? Did the company opt for Exynos, Intel or MediaTek? Or is another NVIDIA Tegra K1 slate on the way?

Other specs cover the photography department, where we will reportedly see two cameras (13MP on the back and 3MP up in front). The device will run Android out of the box with the company’s new Flyme 4.0 UI on top.
