So, looking to purchase an Android smartphone and you want it to be a monster that won’t break a sweat while you're multi-tasking or playing games on end?

There are a bunch of potent smartphones available on the market today, so you might have a hard time choosing the right one for you. With this in mind, AnTuTu has released their top of most powerful Android phones of 2014 to hopefully give you an insight into their capabilities.

Are you curious to see which device climbed at the top? It might come as a bit of a shock, but a Chinese OEM is behind AnTuTu’s top dog position.

The Meizu MX4 is a monster

The Meizu MX4 handset managed to climb up the number one spot in AnTuTu and tear away the competition with its 47,765 score.

The handset is powered by an octa-core MT6595 MediaTek processor.

The runner up is Google’s newest addition to the Nexus portfolio, the Nexus 6 smartphone which managed to grab 47,079 points.

Next up were a bunch of smartphones from the wide Samsung garden, including the Samsung Galaxy Alpha (45,817) and Samsung Galaxy Note 4 (44,669). Making it to the top five was the Cyanogen-bundled handset from China, the OnePlus One.

The other smartphones that got mentioned in the top are the Xiaomi Mi4, HTC One M8, Huawei Mate 7, Nubia Z7 Max, Samsung Galaxy S5.

It's probably safe to know that seven out of the top ten devices that made it to the AnTuTu top are powered by the Snapdragon chip platform.

In 2015, the top will probably be dominated by the Snapdragon 810 model, which is expected to power most of the future high-end devices we will see launch.

2013's top saw Samsung tower over the competition

Compared to last year, Samsung saw a decrease, domination-wise. In 2013, the top two positions were taken by two different versions of the Samsung Galaxy Note 3. Making up the top five were the Gionee E7, Nubia ZS5 and Sony Xperia Z Ultra handset.

AnTuTu runs CPU, GPU, RAM, I/O and UX tests on the device. However users might be confronted with a different result each time they run the app. This is because factors like the phone's current temperatures or running apps are also factored into the whole equation.
