The Chinese company is not saying much about Ubuntu

Meizu is now teasing the launch of an Ubuntu OS-powered phone at the Mobile World Congress 2015 in Barcelona, which falls right into the plans that have been revealed until now via various rumors.

The first Ubuntu phone is already out and is called Aquaris E4.5 Ubuntu Edition. It's true that for now it has been made available only through a couple of flash sales, but it's out there and it's doing great. BQ is not the only company that will have an Ubuntu phone on the market. Canonical has also reached an agreement with Meizu, and the Chinese company is now teasing on Facebook the fact that it will reveal a new operating system during the Mobile World Congress 2015 in Barcelona.

Meizu has been really shy about its Ubuntu plans and very few official bits of information have been released so far. The rumors have been much more visible though, but it's difficult to say which were true and which not. The only thing we know for sure is that Meizu is making an Ubuntu phone, and now it looks like the company is ready to present it at the Mobile World Congress 2015 in Barcelona.

MWC 2015 is the perfect avenue to promote a new phone

It's very likely that MWC 2015 will be a very busy event and it will probably be easy to get lost in the ton of novelties that will surface with the occasion, but it's also the event that ensures the biggest possible exposure for a new phone.

As it stands right now, Meizu has two different Android variants running on their phones. One is called FlyMe and the second one is called YunOS. FlyMe is developed by Meizu while YunOS is built by Alibaba. Now, the company has posted a new teaser on its Facebook page, which seems to indicate that Ubuntu will soon join them at the Mobile World Congress 2015 in Barcelona.

We reached out to Meizu and maybe we'll get more than just a small teaser.
