Meizu sees 50% sales increase compared to December

Meizu is one of those Chinese companies that is making a name in the mobile industry. A few years ago no one cared about device manufacturers based in the country, but this trend is slowly changing now.

Xiaomi was one of the first to come out of the dark woods of anonymity by making a huge sensation with its cheap handsets that managed to offer decent specs.

The second-wave of Chinese manufacturers capable of breaking the country’s boundaries and capturing the interest of international consumers also includes Meizu.

Meizu is gradually ascending

Now the company’s CEO recently took to Weibo to announce the company had a great January in terms of sales. Apparently, Meizu managed to ship up to 1.5 million handsets in just one month (as seen at Android Headlines).

It might not sound as amazing as Apple’s performance during the last quarter, when the Cupertino tech giant revealed it sold nearly 75 million iPhones, but it's still something for a Chinese company.

Considering that in December Meizu sold almost 1 million smartphones, the monthly growth amounts to an impressive 50%.

Still, given the fact that Meizu just released the budget-friendly M1 Note just recently, the numbers could just translate into a temporary spike. After all, people tend to get excited about new handset models.

Meizu also offers two more advanced products, such as the MX4 and MX4 Pro which take advantage of more advanced specs.

The handsets are worthy iPhone look-alikes and we’ve included them in the list of the best iPhone 6 clones you can hope to find out there.

And we’re not just talking from an aesthetic perspective, but also internally. For example, mobile benchmark specialist AnTuTu has awarded the MX4 the title of the most powerful Android phone of 2014.

The MX4 is a 5.4-inch device boasting 1920 x 1152 pixel resolution and an octa-core MediaTek processor under the hood. The MX4 Pro is a bit larger coming with 5.5-inch display with 1536 x 2560 pixel resolution and an octa-core Exynos 5430 processor running things underneath.

The two flagships are expected to receive the sweet Android 5.0 Lollipop update in the upcoming month, so Meizu’s high-end duo is bound to get even more attractive.
