Good news for Meizu fans, as the Chinese company has recently confirmed that it will offer the Android 4.4 KitKat update for at least two of its products.

Meizu announced on Weibo that Flyme OS would be updated to version 4.0 via an Android 4.4 KitKat upgrade, which would initially be available for two smartphones, MX2 and MX3.

Both smartphones have been confirmed to receive the highly anticipated update on April 28, if nothing bad happens. Chinese blog site Meizuhui has also published a screenshot taken from a MX3 running the new Android 4.4 KitKat OS.

There's aren't too many details regarding the changes that Meizu plans to introduce in this update, but fans should expect some major improvements when it comes to UI (user interface).

The MX2 and MX3 are the most advanced smartphones launched by Meizu, so it makes sense to offer an upgrade for these two devices.

However, once the Chinese company manages to integrate its own changes into Android 4.4 KitKat, it should be able to push the update to other devices as well.

Flyme OS is Meizu's take on Android platform and has been included in all the company's smartphones. This is probably one of the reasons it took Meizu more time to make the necessary adjustments that would fit into Android 4.4 KitKat.

We will keep an eye out for any additional updates on the matter, so stay tuned for more info on the upcoming major update for Meizu MX2 and MX3.
