Much has been said about “Jennifer’s Body,” Megan Fox’s most hyped production after the two “Transformers” films. On Friday, the first trailer for it ran in US theaters ahead of “Bruno,” but, according to Cody and the folks over at 20th Century Fox, it was not what they wanted horror fans to see of the film. So, they released the first red band trailer to Shock Till You Drop.

The story of “Jennifer’s Body” is somewhat the classic one of the teenage horror flick, as Cody wanted to bring back some of the nostalgia we all felt back in the days when we watched these movies. Therefore, Fox plays an incredibly good-looking cheerleader whose body becomes possessed by a voracious demon who commands her to kill boys her age in the most gruesome manner.

The red band trailer, of course, places plenty of emphasis on both Fox’s hotness and her amazing ability to gut a man and basically eat him alive, which has prompted a very warm reception on horror-dedicated forums and e-zines, Shock Till You Drop included.

“Fox is putting a trailer of ‘Jennifer’s Body’ in front of ‘Bruno’ this Friday. Great, right? Only problem is it’s not our trailer. It’s kind of a straight horror preview and while we’re sure it’ll appeal to many of you, we wanted to make sure you guys got to see our cut... Let’s call it the ‘filmmaker’s cut.’ We think it captures the comedy and scares of the horror films we grew up on – a kind of nostalgia for when horror films were fun. Can’t wait to show you the whole film... In the meantime, here’s the red band trailer we wanted our fans to see.” director Karyn Kusama, writer Diablo Cody and producer Jason Reitman say in a note accompanying the trailer.

From what anyone can make from the trailer, it’s certainly not lacking scary and gory moments, as neither the kind of humor one usually expects from this type of film. “Jennifer’s Body” is scheduled for release on September 18 – which is quite a long way to go. However, on the bright side, this means that more details on the production should emerge soon, along with another trailer as well perhaps.

Below is the red band trailer for “Jennifer’s Body.” Caution is advised as it contains images of graphic violence and some strong language.
