With the kind of media coverage that Megan Fox is getting and the never-ending comparisons to Angelina Jolie, it’s almost too easy to forget that, at the end of the day, this is one actress that has barely a handful of major appearances to show for all of it. This is precisely what bothers Megan the most who, in a brand new interview with EW, reveals she’s somewhat afraid the hype will eventually get the best of her career.

“Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” is currently premiering in select theaters and, as expected, the Fox-mania is gaining momentum, heading towards climax. That’s not to say that it will stop any day soon though, since studios seem in a rush to get her on board of major upcoming projects, while the media and the public, well, simply can’t get enough of her. And it’s all because she happened to star in the first “Transformers” film just as audiences were looking for a new It girl, Megan believes.

“I can’t figure that out. I mean, ‘Transformers’ made $700 million and that opened a door to introduce this ‘new girl,’ and I happened to be such an outrageous personality that people wanted to start writing about me because it was deemed controversial. I think if I had been a typical Hollywood actress and I said all the right things and I had been a publicity android, it wouldn’t have escalated to this level.” Fox reveals. What’s even weirder, as per her own words, is that she’s already labeled a star when she hasn’t even done anything to prove her worth – or, as she puts it, she hasn’t done any real acting yet.

“[People have seen about] seven percent [of my range]. On the new one [‘Transformers’ film], I tried. But unless you’re a seasoned veteran, working with Michael Bay is not about an acting experience. […]I think I could be. If I really buckle down, I think one day I could be a very good actress. But so far, I haven’t done anything yet.” Fox tells EW. This is precisely why she would love it if the public could at least give her some space to prove herself: not that she minds being labeled a screen siren, since she’s more than aware of the fact that she’s a hot commodity that sells very well, and has no problem with that.

There is one thing, however, that somewhat bothers her. Being extremely confident in everything that she can do (and yes, that also includes her looks, Megan says), she would like to be regarded as Megan Fox and not as a new, younger version of someone else, that is, Angelina Jolie. “I think it’s a lack of creativity on the media’s part. Because I have tattoos and dark hair and I was in an action movie? That’s as far as the similarities extend. I’m not the next anyone.” Fox explains.
