She’s considered one of the most beautiful women currently working in showbiz, yet Megan Fox is not free of insecurities, as she reveals in a recent interview with GQ magazine (story via ContactMusic). Like most female stars, Megan too succumbed to the pressure of always looking good, and reached a low point where she was battling depression and had serious weight issues, the star reveals.

As per Fox’s own admission, being constantly in the spotlight can take a very drastic toll on one, up to the point of making even someone as gorgeous and reportedly confident as her doubt her worth. For Megan, the constant media attention first led her to self-indulgence and weight gain; later on, she started to lose weight at an alarming pace, as depression took over. Luckily, the star has managed to overcome all this and is now confident and happy again.

“Really my only job is to look attractive.” Fox says of realizing that most of the coverage she was getting was because of her looks. “I was so angry about that, that I went in the opposite direction. I turned into a really butch bull [woman] for, like, six months... Then I went in the other direction. […] I turned into a zombie. I lost, like, 30 pounds.” the actress explains, adding that not knowing whether she owed her career to her renowned good looks was what triggered depression.

At first, she adds, she deceived herself that she was losing weight for a part in the movie “Jennifer’s Body,” oblivious to the fact that she was actually suffering from depression. “I was like, ‘I’m losing weight for the movie.’ I was telling myself I was being method [method acting], which was so outrageous and ridiculous and not true. But I ended up getting sick and my hair started falling out and I was like, ‘Oh [expletive]. I can’t do this’... You lose too much weight, you’re not getting your vitamins, you get sick. I was really skinny. I was depressed.” Fox explains.

Although this might seem like a bit of a contradiction, not long ago, Megan was also telling the media that she was upset about people perceiving her as not intelligent because she was beautiful. In the same interview, she was adding that she would never do anything to look less attractive because that’s who she was and people just had to accept it because it was in her genes, in more or less words. Presumably, she had already overcome her weight and image issues by the time she made these remarks.

I don't see where it is contradictory to be upset about being perceived as unintelligent because of your looks, while not wanting to do anything to make yourself less attractive. She's a natural beauty, she'd have to work at it, and that would be...stupid.
