She has good looks on her side and the ability to generate the kind of publicity few other stars, be they female or male, can generate by doing only very little in this sense. Yet Megan Fox was not popular with moviegoers this year, as a new poll by Moviefone reveals, after counting the votes from 238,000 users.

To add insult to injury, Fox’s main vehicle to international fame, “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen,” out this year, was voted the worst movie of 2009, while also the second biggest disappointment, right after Sacha Baron Cohen’s “Bruno.” On the bright side, “Transformers” was also named the best action movie, while Fox got fans’ votes for being the hottest female presence on the big screen.

The same poll also crowned “New Moon,” the sequel to last year’s smashing hit “Twilight,” as the best movie of 2009, but also the ultimate “chick flick.” As expected, British actor Robert Pattinson, who plays vampire Edward Cullen in the saga, was named the hottest male actor, while younger Taylor Lautner (Jacob Black in the same franchise) was voted hottest breakthrough star. On the same note, “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse,” the third installment, seems to be the most anticipated release of 2010, getting no less than 47 percent of all the votes, ahead of “Alice in Wonderland” and the next take on “Harry Potter.”

“In case there was any doubt, the results of our 2009 year-end movies poll are here to remind you that moviegoers loved (sometimes to the point of obsession) ‘The Twilight Saga: New Moon’ – so much so that the film took home a pack-leading four awards, including Best Movie of the Year. Moviefone readers also loved George Clooney, ‘Up in the Air’ and ‘The Hangover,’ but had considerably less warm feelings for Jack Black, ‘Year One’ and Sacha Baron Cohen’s disappointing ‘Borat’ follow-up ‘Bruno’,” Moviefone writes of the results made public.
