Publisher Capcom has announced that it has no plans to make characters like Mega Man and Pac-Man available for the PlayStation 3 version of Street Fighter x Tekken, despite the fact that many fans have been asking for the extra characters to be available on all platforms.

Tomoyaki Ayano, who is a producer working on the Street Fighter series, has told Siliconera that, “Unfortunately for Xbox 360 users, Mega Man and Pac-Man are exclusive to the PS3 version of the game.”

He added, “Every game has data on it that is unused. In this case, Street Fighter X Tekken for the Xbox 360 did have the Mega Man and Pac-Man data on it. But we never intended to release these characters on the 360. They are PS3 exclusives and that was our intention from the very beginning. The are not going to be timed exclusives either, they’re PS3 exclusives.”

Both Mega Man and Pac-Man are available on the game disk for the Xbox 360 version of Street Fighter x Tekken and gamers took this as a sign that they would be launched on the Microsoft home console at some point.

Comments from the developers also suggested that Microsoft was unwilling to allow Capcom to use some of its own extensive cast of exclusive characters in Street Fighter x Tekken.

The game was also a source of controversy because a number of characters, although included on disk, were locked until the launch of the PlayStation Vita version.

The game is a cross-over between the two well-known fighting game franchises and at the moment Namco Bandai is working on a Tekken x Street Fighter title that will be launched during next year.

The game will use the core mechanics of Tekken and the development team has not yet announced whether they have plans to deliver any exclusive characters, either on the Xbox 360 or on the PlayStation 3.
