Mega Man Star Force is an action RPG video game published and developed by Capcom for the Nintendo DS handheld console. It was launched in December 14, 2006 in Japan, and hit the store shelves of North America on August 07. The game was released in three separate versions, Dragon, Pegasus and Leo, all of which shared the same gameplay but featured small differences consisting of launch events. The Dragon version, for example, was exclusive to the GameStop network of stores in the USA.
Although Mega Man Star Force has many similarities in gameplay, visuals and mechanics with the Mega Man Battle Network franchise, it is still considered a separate game by its developer and publisher Capcom. As a special treat for all those Mega Man fans in Japan, a special anime and manga series was produced before the launch of the title in Japan, in order to build up hype. Even if it is placed in the network technology timeline of the Mega Man franchise, the game sets itself apart from the Battle Network series, as it states that its action takes places 200 years after the events in the previous Battle Network games.
Because it takes places in the network timeline, it uses a lot of gameplay elements from the Battle Network games but doesn't make any reference to other Mega Man series of titles. This decision was motivated by Capcom in order to make the game more friendlier for users who don't know very much about the franchise.
HINTS
Card Traders
The Card Traders in the game have a set order for the cards they dispense, so giving them better cards will likely not affect the cards you get back from them. It’s a progression.
Kizamaro
To add Kizamaro to your Brother Band, do the following (after beating the main quest). Speak to him in Kodama Town, and then head to the gym at school. Head into the network via the Piano in the gym and talk to Jamminger within. You’ll begin a battle sequence that is many battles long, but upon winning, you can talk to Kizamaro again and add him to your Brother Band.
